I have thought a lot about that song (Jesus Bring the Rain- Mercy Me) this last week. Gramps suffered a massive heart attack last Wednesday and we weren't sure if he was going to pull through. I am glad to say that exactly one week after his heart attack...I was chatting away with him and he even smiled at me today! Our family was so blessed by our church family...their prayer, love and support was beyond words.
Hallie update...
Hallie is as fun as ever!! It is so fun to see her walking around! We had a great Easter celebration with both the Evans and Vanderpool side! She participated in 3 Easter Egg hunts! She did such a great job picking up candy and putting it in her basket...I think she might possess some of Jon and I's competitive edge! She looked darling in her Easter dress! It is so fun to see your little girl looking so much like you did when you were a kid...OH the memories it brought back (Although, no sponge curlers yet)!
Hallie is also cutting 4 new teeth! How exciting!

Hallie is walking!!
So it is official....HALLIE IS WALKING! She took off on the 28th of March!! We were at Uncle Nick's show choir performance and she was being a little bit disruptive...so Daddy took her out to the hallway and OFF she went! She was walking all by herself and NOT wanting any help from Daddy! We were so proud! Way to go Hallie!! You are sooo BIG!

Almost Walking!
We have been sooo busy lately! However, our summer calendar looks less hectic! We are grateful for that! Hallie and I were lucky enough to get to go to Kansas City this past Monday to visit my cousin Julie and her new baby William. We had a great short trip and were so glad to get to meet the new arrival to the Gates Family! OUr current Hallie status:
-03/13/2009 Hallie took 8 steps at Grammy and PaPa Vander's house! She showed off for mom and dad when we picked her up! It was so great to see. She is not walking on her own yet but does great if you hold her hand. She is pretty cautious when it comes to walking.
- Hallie says "mama" "da da" "ball" "dog" "thank you." She understands almost everything you tell her. She is a total "girl" socially! She loves to talk!
- Hallie points to ma ma and da da when you ask her to. She also points to her hair and her toes.
- If Hallie finds a hair tie on the floor she immediately acts like she is trying to put it in her hair. She mimicks most things I do.
- Hallie loves the park swings. We finally have warm enough weather to go! YAY! The only trouble with her new fetish is she throws a huge fit when it is time to leave!
- Hallie is cutting her top right but not center tooth. It is the one right next to her middle tooth.
- Hallie has been constipated on and off! UGH! I am certain that it is due to MILK...I have heard rice milk is a great alternative and I am going to try that! I have tried to reduce the milk but that doesn't seem to consistently help...We want cosistent soft bowels! HA!
- Hallie loves to cuddle in the morning...After she wakes up she comes and lays in bed with Mommy! This is sooo precious!
- Hallie loves to stick her fingers in Landon's mouth...I don't know why but she loves to do this. He doesn't seem to mind except for when she gags him. We are trying to stop this behavior.

Hallie is 1!!!!
Hallie is now 1!!! I can't believe she was born one whole year ago!! Turning one also means her lovely 12 month sticker calendar is finished…so this puts a greater pressure on me to keep this blog updated with all her new tricks and milestones! I hope to be committed…but my history with this thing says otherwise!
Hallie is very active however is NOT yet walking! She is what I call a "super crawler." She is soooo quick that she looses all interest in walking after a few frustrating attempts. She looks at me like what is the point of walking mom?? It is very cute but hopefully she will get up and going soon! Here are some quick stats/things I want to remember about my little girl at the present moment!
• She is 21 lbs 10 oz and falling off the charts for weight! She is down to
the 60th percentile! She is 75th for height!
• Her hair remains light but she is not a toe head anymore…sometimes has a strawberry tint. (We will see what the summer sun does to it!)
• She has 2 teeth….bottom, middle teeth! She tries to bite her food now!
• She wears size 18-24 month clothes and some 12-18 month.
• My favorite thing she does now is…she says OHHHH (very long and dramatic) when she drops something or if I drop something. She says this instead of uh oh.
• She loves to say “hi” all the time! She says hi to people on the phone and to complete strangers! SO CUTE!
• She talks (babbles) to herself the whole time she plays.
• She loves her bouncy zebra toy…she gets on bounces and shrieks like a crazy woman and then gets off and does the whole process all over again.
• She loves baby Landon and Roxy (Lisa’s dog)! She lights up for both of them!
• Hallie is overall VERY social…she loves to be talked to and listened to!

I need to get some new pictures up....My camera was out of commission for a bit!! We had a great weekend with Uncle Chris and Aunt Janna! It was soo great to have them here!
We are looking forward to the holidays...LOTS of family and friends! Jon has realized that the holidays mean lots of PARTIES for me (Pampered Chef, jewelery, tupperware...you name it)! He has been eating up these "party evenings" to spend some one-on-one time with Hallie! He always tells me how sweet she is when I get home. I am so glad that he is a "natural." He is so good with her! Hallie gets such a kick out of Daddy too...she is always looking for him. If he leaves the room she will continuously turn towards the door- watching to see if he will come back. It is soo cute!

HEAVY HEARTS
Yesterday we recieved news that our dear friends Josh and Angie gave birth to their first baby girl. She was born at 23 weeks...she weighed 1lb 4 oz. They named her Emma Joy (Josh's late grandmother's name) before they sent her home to be with Jesus. It was truly a miracle that she made it to 23 weeks. We are saddened by their loss but we rejoice knowing that she has been reunited with her maker. See you in heaven Emma Joy!
